Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts Share New Song “Big Change”: Listen

Music

Neil Young has shared his first song with the Chrome Hearts. “Big Change,” which you can hear below, is “in your face loud irreverent rock’n’roll paint splatter on the canvas in the vein of a Jackson Pollack painting,” Young’s longtime engineer John Hanlon said in a press release.

Last year, Young announced his first live show with the Chrome Hearts—the band of guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham—and they’re set to headline Glastonbury this summer. Lou Adler produced the new track with Young. It was recorded at Rick Rubin’s Malibu studio, Shangri-La.

Micah Nelson, Corey McCormick, and Anthony Logerfo are members of Promise of the Real, with whom Neil Young made The Monsanto Years, The Visitor, and Paradox (Original Music From the Film). Spooner Oldham, meanwhile, played on several Neil Young albums, including Harvest Moon and Silver & Gold.

Young released his last studio album, World Record, with Crazy Horse in 2022. He has since released his lost 1970s album Chrome Dreams.
