Aquatic horror gamers won’t have to wait long for their next dip into the deep blue, as after six months of development in Early Access, developer Embers and publisher Oro Interactive have announced that Murky Divers will be exiting the service on Steam and launching in full on December 12. The 1.0 release will introduce new creatures to the game, a new playable biome and more. And because it’s that time of year again, there will be a Christmas theme with free-to-keep cosmetics.

Murky Divers puts you or as part of an 8-person team to take a trip down to the bottom of the ocean. Your mission: Remove all corpses from Pharma Corps’ abandoned labs, and erase any evidence of their failed experiments. It’s never that easy, of course, as you’ll need to deal with things lurking in these wrecks, and oxygen might run out quicker than you expect.

You’ll need to coordinate with your team in Murky Divers to navigate your sub to these wrecks, where you’ll need to rely on sonar and stations to “see” and pilot it to the wrecks. After that, you’ll be stepping out and extracting dead bodies from the wrecks, which you’ll back to the sub and destroy them using a shredder.

After you survive, you can spend your hard-earned credits on items, upgrades, and modules to boost your chances on the next expedition. Equip items like Agent NUTS, the shopping cart, or the scooter to make your job a little easier. You can even upgrade with see-through vision, body part detectors, or a grappling hook. Along with your suit, you can also enhance your sub with modules for greater depth, bigger fishing nets, and more.

“With over 350,000 players worldwide, we’re incredibly grateful for the support from our growing community,” reads the press release from Embers. “Since launching in early access, Murky Divers has evolved thanks to player feedback and enthusiasm. We’re excited to keep working on Murky Divers, and we can’t wait to share more updates as we continue to shape the game into something truly special.”
