David Archuleta, once the cherubic American Idol runner-up who charmed the nation with his boyish grin and soulful voice, is now delighting fans in a whole new way. After coming out as gay, the singer recently discussed his preferences in the bedroom, revealing that when it comes to sex, variety is truly the spice of life.

Archuleta made headlines last year when he hinted at his sexual role preference, and he’s since embraced an unabashedly flirty phase that has fans swooning. In an interview on Logo’s “Spill Bar” with Johnny Sibilly, Archuleta tackled questions that have kept fans guessing for months.

Sibilly kicked things off by recalling a past encounter with Archuleta, where the two couldn’t quite tell if they were on a date. This awkward-cute moment led Sibilly to the question on everyone’s mind: What kind of partner does Archuleta really want?

“My ideal partner? I think I need someone who’s able to match my energy,” said Archuleta. “Somebody who will match my freak.”

Cue collective swooning. But Archuleta’s definition of “freak” isn’t about explicit body parts, it’s about connection. In a playful segment called “What Makes David Archuleta Horny?” he revealed a simple but telling preference.

“A good face,” he said, noting that he’s never quite understood the fuss over male genitalia. “If I like you, then, okay, whatever. If you have a nice dick, that’s great. But I have to like you.” He added that this outlook often leads people to label him as demisexual—someone who craves an emotional connection before feeling sexual attraction.

“I do consider myself demisexual,” Archuleta said, though he describes himself as being “on the scale of asexual.” He joked that since he’s not really into “dick” or “ass” from the get-go, there’s no point in seeking them out without a deeper bond.

As for the rumors about his sexual positioning, Archuleta cleared the air. He learned all the terms—top, bottom, versatile—and set the record straight: “I would consider myself a vers. It’s not like I’m even into dick. And I’m not really into ass, either, to be honest. Doing only one thing is boring to me.”

Sibilly agreed, chiming in with a chorus of “do it all,” and fans couldn’t be more thrilled with Archuleta’s refreshingly open attitude.

Though Archuleta’s confessions are a far cry from the shy teenager who once serenaded millions, his honesty is as wholesome as ever. If we’re lucky, maybe 2025 will see him paired with the perfect partner who can keep up with his energy, embrace his “freak,” and prove that love is about more than just body parts—it’s about heart.
