Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) just revealed on X that she is selling shirts to attack Representative-elect Sarah McBride (D-DE), who is the first transgender person elected to Congress.

“The Left wants to NORMALIZE balls in women’s stalls. Hell no. I’m NOT backing down,” she said. “Every purchase will help FUEL MY FIGHT to protect women and girls across America. HOLD THE LINE!”

Her website falsely claims that “the Left wants to NORMALIZE the idea of a NAKED MAN walking into our private spaces,” and alleges, with no evidence, that “people are saying I should be KILLED for speaking out against it.”

There is no evidence that trans people pose a danger to cisgender people in public restrooms. A 2018 study found no link between trans people using the restroom and sexual assault, while a 2019 study showed that transgender people are actually at risk of being sexually assaulted by cisgender people.

The shirt shows a women’s bathroom sign with the phrase “come and take it” on the front. The back of it says “Mace for Congress,” referencing her re-election campaign.

Natalie Johnson, a former communications manager for Mace, criticized her attacks on McBride.

“Tweeting 262 times about a bill that applies to like .00000001% of Congress in 36 hours is definitely about protecting women. It’s certainly not just a ploy for media attention,” she said.

Mace, meanwhile, recognizes this is an attack on McBride, saying that she “doesn’t get a say,” while misgendering her and claiming she doesn’t belong in “women’s spaces, women’s bathrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms.”
