Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Patrika Darbo, Renowned Actress, Nancy Wesley of “Days of Our Lives”.

Patrika Darbo is a multi-award winning actress, producer, director and author who is perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of the sexy, cunning and manipulatively domineering “Nancy Wesley” on the immensely popular daytime drama, “Days of Our Lives”, for which she won a Soap Opera Digest Award, as well as nominations for a Daytime Emmy Award and an Online Film and Television Association Award.

Her other major soap opera role was on “The Bold and the Beautiful”, in which she portrayed “Shirley Spectra”. She won a Prime Time Emmy Award for her performance in “Acting Dead”, and she won an Indie Series Award AND a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her work in “Studio City”.

She won another Indie Series Award for her performance in “Indoor Boys”. She’s received 6 more Indie Series Award nominations – 3 for her portrayal of “Mickey Walker” in “The Bay”, 2 nominations for her performance as “Dorothy Nolan” in “Ladies of the Lake” and “Ladies of the Lake: Return to Avalon”, and another nomination for her portrayal of “Dr. Freed” on “Miss Behave”, which she also produced and directed. She’s appeared in dozens of classic TV shows including “Diff’rent Strokes”, “St. Elsewhere”, “Step by Step”, “Seinfeld”, “Married With Children”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Gilmore Girls”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Dexter” and many more.

And who can forget her portrayal of Roseanne Barr in the 1994 TV movie “Roseanne and Tom: Behind the Scenes”. On the big screen, you’ve seen her in “Leaving Normal”, “In the Line of Fire”, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”, “Corrina Corrina”, “Speed 2: Cruise Control”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, “Charlie Wilson’s War”, and many more great films. And yes, she provided the voice of one of the sheep in “Babe”.

And get this – Patrika Darbo was named by TV Guide as one of the sexiest stars of 1999, and a few years later, she released an entertaining, insightful and inspirational memoir entitled, “365 Glorious Nights of Love and Romance”, in which she shares her life experiences, life lessons, and many tips for building confidence, a winning attitude, and a positive approach to life, so we can all be and feel beautiful and sexy.

And well beyond her stellar career as an actress and author, Patrika Darbo has a long and distinguished history of community service. She was on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and she currently serves on the Performers Group Executive Committee. She’s on the Executive Board of the Thalians, established by the amazing Ruta Lee and the late Debbie Reynolds, whose mission is devoted to helping the brave men and women of the American military heal the wounds of war, both physical and mental. She’s also worked for many years with the Elks, and she’s renowned for her support of charities helping veterans, animals and children.

Harvey Brownstone is a retired judge of the Ontario Court of Justice and was the first openly gay judge in Canada. He is also the bestselling author of “Tug of War: A Judge’s Verdict on Separation, Custody Battles and the Bitter Realities of Family Court” and hosted “Family Matters with Justice Harvey Brownstone,” a television talk show on matters involving the family justice system.

After a distinguished legal career, Harvey was appointed a judge at the age of 38 in 1995.  He has presided in family and criminal courts.   He has been a trailblazer in several ways.  He was the first openly gay judge in Canada.  He was the first sitting judge in the world to write a national best seller and to host a TV talk show.

Harvey has been a role model and icon in the LGBTQ community.  When same-sex marriage was legalized in Canada in 2003, he was the only judge to make himself publicly available to officiate at weddings for lesbian and gay couples travelling to Toronto from all over the world to get married.  In 2007, he officiated at the wedding of Edith Windsor and Thea Spyer, the American couple whose marriage triggered the 2013 United States Supreme Court decision overturning the definition of “spouse” in the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

In February 2021, Harvey launched his online talk show “Harvey Brownstone Interviews” on his own YouTube channel. He saw this as an interesting hobby.   Within several months, the show attracted hundreds of thousands – and then eventually, millions – of viewers.  Because of the overwhelming success of the show, Harvey decided to retire from the judiciary on December 31, 2021 after having presided as a full-time judge for 26 1/2 years.  Free from the constraints imposed upon judges regarding the expression of opinions and the endorsement of private enterprise, Harvey now happily devotes his full-time attention to hosting “Harvey Brownstone Interviews” as a regular member of the public – albeit one with a rather illustrious and unique career history.
