Fans are upset with Tom Sandoval for taking the spotlight away from his ex Ariana Madix after he was revealed as a contestant on “The Masked Singer” — while she competes on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Sandoval confirmed fan speculation that he was the Diver on the Fox singing competition following his elimination Wednesday, but many viewers called him out for being on the show during Madix’s ongoing run on the ABC dance-off.
“Of course he needs to be on a show right now….Ariana can’t have all the spotlight on DWTS right now!” one person commented on the “Masked Singer” Instagram account.
“Damn he is thirsty,” another wrote.
“watching the masked singer and i know DAMN well the diver is tom sandoval and bro F–K YOU. man really signed up for a show because ariana was doing dancing with the stars. what an attention whore,” a third viewer tweeted.
“Sandoval didn’t last on #TheMaskedSinger but Ariana will go far on #DWTS!” another wrote.
“ew. so desperate for singers, you’re now hiring cheating bastards?? disgusting. glad i stopped watching this show,” someone else tweeted.
“Let’s give a cheating P.O.S more airtime. *Sigh*,” one user pointed out.
“He’s getting way too much exposure for being a pos,” another agreed.
“Dude is just trying to do anything and I mean anything to make people like him!” one skeptic wrote.
“First of all, e w. Second of all e w,” one more tweeted.
Even before Season 10 of “The Masked Singer” began in September, many fans were convinced Sandoval, 41, had joined the show based off clues that the Diver gave referencing “Vanderpump Rules” and being “hated” by the public.
“Usually, I’m pretty pumped, but lately, I’ve been lost in the abyss,” the still-masked Diver said prior to the season premiere. “I might be the most hated creature in the ocean right now.”
In costume, Sandoval later teased that he loves “the club,” had “modeled and acted” and was struggling with “everyone hating” him at the moment.
After being unmasked Wednesday, Sandoval gushed about how he “knew” he would be “guessed right away.”

“This was so much fun. Being able to come out here and perform behind a mask, not being judged and just being judged on my performance, it was really nice,” he said.
In addition to “The Masked Singer,” Sandoval is also starring on Season 2 of Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”
Meanwhile, Madix, 38, has made it to the third week of “DWTS” with her pro partner, Pasha Pashkov, and has consistently been on the top of the leaderboard.
While Sandoval has publicly said in various interviews that he was going to be cheering on and voting for his ex, Madix told Page Six exclusively in the “DWTS” ballroom Tuesday that she has not directly heard from him.
Sandoval and Madix made headlines in March when his months-long affair with her close friend and co-star Raquel Leviss was revealed.
