Jessa Duggar announced that she and husband Ben Seewald are expecting baby No. 5 after suffering a tragic miscarriage.
“After a heartbreaking loss last year, we’re so thankful God has blessed us with a rainbow baby!,” the “19 Kids and Counting” alum wrote via her Instagram Story Saturday.
Including a link to a YouTube video, titled “A Baby on the Way & Romantic Getaway,” Duggar also posted footage of her positive pregnancy test sitting on the bathroom counter.
“Just this past week we found out some wonderful news that our rainbow baby is on the way and we could not be more excited,” Duggar said in the video, noting again the “heartbreaking loss” the couple endured last year.
In February, the reality star and her husband — whom she married in November 2014 — revealed via Duggar’s YouTube channel that the two had suffered a miscarriage.

Duggar, 30, recalled sitting at the hospital with Seewald, 28, “trying to process the loss [while] sitting there and holding hands and crying” after being informed of the loss of what would have been their fifth child.
“Nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment,” she continued, adding, “At that moment I was just in complete shock. I didn’t have words. I just immediately started crying.”
After receiving news that her fetus did not “look good” during a check-up, Duggar checked into a hospital where she had a dilation and curettage procedure in order to remove the fetus from her womb.
“I feel like in some ways miscarriages can be so jarring because you don’t have clear signs of something going wrong,” Duggar shared.
The reality star and Seewald share four children together: Spurgeon, 7, Henry, 6, Ivy, 4, and Fern, 2.
Duggar and Seewald suffered a similar tragedy in 2021 ahead of the birth of their daughter, Fern.
“After the heartbreaking loss of a baby last year, we’re overjoyed to share that another little Seewald is on the way,” the couple shared in a statement at the time.
“The pregnancy is going smoothly, and both baby and Jessa are doing well.”
