Bradley Cooper is the director, co-writer, co-producer, and star of Maestro, a new Netflix movie about the legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. The movie tells the story of Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre, portrayed by Carey Mulligan. Watch the teaser trailer for the film below.
Maestro hits select theaters on November 22 and arrives widely on Netflix on December 20. Cooper co-wrote the movie with Spotlight screenwriter Josh Singer, and Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are among Maestro’s producers. The film also stars Maya Hawke as one of the Bernsteins’ daughters, Jamie, and Sarah Silverman as Leonard Bernstein’s younger sister, Shirley.
Maestro is the first film that Bradley Cooper has directed since 2018’s A Star Is Born. His directing earned him a nomination at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, and he also won two Grammy Awards for his musical contributions to the film.
Leonard Bernstein, who died in 1990 at the age of 72, famously wrote the music for West Side Story and won 16 Grammy Awards. He also served as the music director of the New York Philharmonic from 1959 to 1969.
