Kroy Biermann is reflecting on his past amid his divorce from Kim Zolciak.
“When I look back on my life, I see pain, mistakes and heartache,” read a quote he shared Thursday in his first Instagram post since filing to end their union on May 5.
“When I look in the mirror,” the quote went on, “I see strength, learned lessons and pride in myself.”
The retired football player captioned the upload, “Great memories with all 6 of my kids as well! One day at a time…”
Together, he and the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star welcomed Kroy Jr. (KJ), 12, Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9.
Biermann had also legally adopted Zolciak’s daughters from a previous relationship: Brielle, 26, and Ariana, 21.
The pair were married for 11 years, but insiders recently told Page Six that tension had been mounting as they dealt with financial hardships behind closed doors.
News of the “Don’t Be Tardy” alums’ split came in tandem with reports claiming they owe the IRS more than $1 million in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties.

Sources also told us that Zolciak, 45, had wanted to leave the former NFL star, 37, for “months,” but he beat her to the courthouse.
The two are now in the midst of a nasty custody battle, with each requesting sole legal and physical custody of their four minor children.
Though Zolciak is willing to allow Biermann visitation rights, she’s demanding that he submit a drug test because she allegedly witnessed him smoking marijuana and has “concerns” about the kids’ “safety.”
Meanwhile, Biermann has accused Zolciak of “spending substantial time and marital funds on gambling and other games of chance,” a habit he claimed has “financially devastated” their family.
He further alleged that her “time is so consumed with online gambling” that she cannot properly care for their brood.
Biermann wants Zolciak to undergo a psychological evaluation for her “compulsions” and to determine whether she has depression, narcissistic personality disorder and/or bipolar disorder.
Despite the turmoil, the duo are still living together under the same roof of their Georgia mansion, which was recently under foreclosure.
Though we’re told they are actively “avoiding each other” while sharing a home, they have each taken shots at one another on social media.
Zolciak recently posted a cryptic message about “manipulation” and “toxic behavior,” while Biermann seemingly mocked her over rumors that she’s “begging” Bravo for a job back on reality TV.
