Radio Silence’s Monster Thriller For Universal Adds Kevin Durand to Growing Cast

Horror

The cast for Radio Silence‘s (V/H/S, Southbound, Scream, Scream VI) mysterious “Untitled Monster Thriller” for Universal is shaping up to be monstrous in size and talent. Hot on the heels of announcing Dan Stevens among the lineup, Deadline reports that Kevin Durand (Tragedy Girls, “The Strain”) has joined the cast as well.

While details of course remain under lock and key for this project, Durand is no stranger to the realm of horror, especially when it comes to playing villains or morally dubious characters. The actor was more recently seen in Netflix’s “Locke & Key” and the James Wan-produced “Swamp Thing” series. Durand will next appear in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

UPDATE: Kathryn Newton, Angus Cloud, and Will Catlett will also star.

Alisha Weir also joined the cast earlier this week.

Melissa Barrera, who of course plays a pivotal role in Radio Silence’s two Scream movies, recently signed on to lead the cast of the mysterious untitled horror movie.

Deadline says of the untitled Monster Thriller, “In the vein of Universal’s recent films like The Invisible Man and Renfield, the Radio Silence thriller will provide a unique take on legendary monster lore, representing a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters.”

It was previously teased, “The project was at one point titled Dracula’s Daughter. That project centered on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom ends up being the titular character. Woe then betides the kidnappers. Weir is playing the kidnappee who proves to be more than she appears, with Barrera playing one of the kidnappers.”

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett will direct with Chad Villella serving as producer alongside William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt at Project X Entertainment.

The script was written by Stephen Shields, with revisions by Guy Busick.

What does that mean for Scream 7? The third installment in the new franchise hasn’t yet been announced, but we expect it won’t be long before Ghostface returns again.

Stay tuned for more on all things Radio Silence as we learn it.
