Young Fathers: Heavy Heavy [Ninja Tune]
Heavy Heavy is the first full-length from Young Fathers since 2018’s Cocoa Sugar. The trio of Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole, and G. Hastings returned last July to share the album’s lead single, “Geronimo.” The band went on to share the tracks “I Saw,” “Tell Somebody,” and “Rice.”

The Men: New York City [Fuzz Club]
The latest from New York rockers the Men is a bittersweet tribute to sticking it out in New York during lockdown. “When everyone left NYC, the sewer opened and we crawled out,” the band wrote in a press release. New York City, the band’s ninth album, was announced with “Hard Livin’,” a song about dealing with life’s hardships alone. The new LP follows the Men’s 2020 record, Mercy.

Raye: My 21st Century Blues [Human Re Sources/The Orchard]
My 21st Century Blues is the debut album from singer-songwriter Raye, who rose in popularity with her 2022 hit “Escapism” (featuring 070 Shake). The single is featured on the new LP, as is another collaboration, “Five Star Hotels,” featuring Mahalia. “This music is my medicine, my anxieties, traumas, and unfiltered thoughts,” the south London artist said in a statement. “The music on this record empowered me to face my demons and has accompanied me through my bluest blues, crafted unapologetically and fearlessly with love and tears.” Raye worked on the new album with BloodPop®, Di Genius, and Punctual, among others.

Sunny War: Anarchist Gospel [New West]
Singer, songwriter, and guitar virtuoso Sunny War makes her New West debut with Anarchist Gospel, an album featuring Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Allison Russell, David Rawlings, Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs, the School Zone Children’s Choir, and more. The LP, which was produced by Andrija Tokic, includes 12 original tracks, plus covers of Ween’s “Baby Bitch” and Van Hunt’s “Hopeless.”

Loscil & Lawrence English: Colours of Air [Kranky]
Colours of Air is a new collaboration between Canadian ambient musician Loscil (aka Scott Morgan) and Australian composer Lawrence English. The artists crafted these songs on a century-old pipe organ housed within the historic Old Museum in Brisbane, Australia. They then processed those passages into dreamlike soundscapes. Loscil and English described Colours of Air as “an iterative project, a reduction and eventual expansion” in press materials. Each of its eight tracks are named after the colors they evoke, such as the single “Violet.”

Kassem Mosse: Workshop 32 [Workshop]
Kassem Mosse—the stage name of house artist Gunnar Wendel—has returned to the German minimal house and techno label Workshop for the first time in nine years. Workshop 32 marks the Leipzig producer’s fourth solo album, following 2014’s Workshop 19, 2016’s Disclosure and 2017’s Chilazon Gaiden.
Toumba: Petals EP [Hessle Audio]
Toumba is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amman, Jordan. The producer, DJ, sound designer, and curator’s new EP, Petals, blends the folk music of his native country with UK club music, of which he grew fond while living abroad. Read Pitchfork’s track review of Petals’ “Istibtan.”

Robert Forster: The Candle and the Flame [Tapete]
Robert Forster—former singer-songwriter for Australian indie rockers the Go-Betweens—has released his eighth solo album. He co-produced the album with his wife, Karin Bäumler, andhiss son, Louis, formerly of the Goon Sax. Forster also enlisted former Go-Betweens and Warm Nights bass player Adele Pickvance, as well as Scott Bromiley and Luke McDonald of the John Steele Singers, to contribute to the new LP. One of the songs on the album, “She’s a Fighter,” was partly inspired by Bäumler’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment and recovery.
