Olivia Culpo found herself in dire straits after her split from Nick Jonas.
In her family’s new reality show, the former Miss Universe candidly opened up about struggling personally and financially in 2015 after moving to Los Angeles during her relationship with the Jonas Brothers singer.
“I had no brand, no money, and I was in love,” Culpo, 30, said in the premiere episode of TLC’s “The Culpo Sisters” on Monday.
“But when he broke up with me, I was kind of left with no sense of identity,” she recalled. “My whole identity was in him, which is a very common story of a young person in love.”
The pair started dating in 2013 and called it quits nearly two years later.
“I just remember night after night, looking up at my ceiling in my apartment that I couldn’t afford, thinking to myself, ‘How am I going to pay my rent?’ I couldn’t even afford my groceries,” the model confessed.
“It was a serious, pivotal moment for me, but it was something that taught me that you can’t give up.”
Culpo also touched on how she thought she and Jonas “were going to get married” and how their relationship was a “formative” experience for her.
The reality star has since moved on with San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who was recently traded from the Carolina Panthers.
The pair began dating in early 2019 and made their relationship Instagram-official that November.
Jonas has also moved on, marrying Priyanka Chopra in December 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Malti, in January via surrogate.
