Gabby Windey said she and fiancé Erich Schwer are “supporting each other from afar,” sparking breakup rumors less than six months after getting engaged on “The Bachelorette.”
“I think life is just really busy for the both of us right now, so I understand their concern,” Windey told Fox News Digital when asked about the status of her relationship after Monday night’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
“But we’re just kind of, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar,” Windey explained.
Neither Windey, 31, nor Schwer, 29, have posted a photo with each other since Oct. 12.
However, Schwer did support Windey by sharing a screenshot of himself voting for Windey on Monday’s “DWTS” episode and encouraged his followers to do so as well.
“She keeps on crushin it 🤟,” he captioned the screenshot of him texting “Gabby” the maximum ten times to the “DWTS” voting number.
While it appears that Schwer may not have been at Monday’s taping, a spy tells Page Six that he’s appeared at almost all of her other performances as recently as Oct. 17.
Neither Windey nor Schwer immediately responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
Bachelor Nation expert Zachary Reality shared his two cents and tweeted that “it’s on the verge of over between Gabby & Erich,” but he added that he’s still holding onto “hope.”
Several “Bachelor” fan accounts posted the clip and theorized Windey’s response meant that they had officially joined the plethora of Bachelor Nation couples who haven’t worked out, and fans commented how “sad” it was that the couple may be over.
“Sad, but sounds like they’re not together. Support is good, but doesn’t replace love.😍,” one fan commented.
“Yeah they def broke up judging from that statement,” another fan wrote.
“Oh definitely ‘supporting eachother [sic] from afar ‘ is PR speak for ‘we’re over’. I thought they’d last at least a few months longer but I’ve heard DWTS can be a real strain on Bachelor/ette relationships,” another user chimed in.
Schwer proposed to Windey during the Season 19 finale of the hit ABC series, which aired in September.
“I love you, Gabby Windey,” he said before popping the question. “You are amazing. You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met. It’s you, me until the wheels fall off. I’m head over heels in love with you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
The couple’s whirlwind romance was put to the test when Schwer faced extreme backlash when a high school yearbook photo of him in blackface resurfaced while the season was still airing. Both Windey and Schwer addressed the controversy.
“I was incredibly shocked,” Windey told People after the finale aired. “[I] just really had to process my thoughts and then think about how we can grow as a couple and learn from this.”
Schwer had also previously taken to social media and apologized for being “insensitive” and explained that his makeup and Afro wig was part of a costume.
“What I thought at the time was a representation of my love for Jimi Hendrix, was nothing but ignorance,” he wrote on Instagram on Sept. 8. “I was naïve to the hurtful implications of my actions to the Black community and those closest to me, and will forever regret my offensive and damaging behavior.”
One week later, Schwer was thrust into the spotlight once again when his ex-girlfriend Amanda Kaylor shared text messages between the two that revealed he went on the show to advance his career – not his love life.
“Ultimately it was a time for us to take a step back and reflect on our relationship and see if we can get through this,” she told People of facing both incidents.
“You have to really lead on your communication, be really honest with each other while having these tough conversations.”
