It’s not even out yet, but developer Brass Token has decided to get the hype buzzing for their cosmic horror title The Chant by releasing a brand-new trailer that focuses on the accolades from the previews by various publications.
To be fair, The Chant sounds (no pun intended) awesome, and after the game’s showing at Gamescom last month, it only makes sense to keep the momentum going with this accolades trailer. Particularly, it helps to ease the pain of what was originally an October release.
The Chant is a third-person cosmic horror action adventure game that centres on the Prismic Science Spiritual Retreat located on the remote Glory Island. You play as Jess, who goes to the retreat to help overcome shared trauma she had with her friend Kim when they were teenagers. Any positive vibes from the retreat are wiped away entirely when a ritualistic chant goes wrong, resulting in a visiting group’s negative energy unleashing the Gloom, a dimension of cosmic terror. To survive the Gloom, players must uncover a cultish mystery spanning both past and present.
Of course, that isn’t so easy. Other group members are slowly being driven mad from a host of parasitic creatures. These horrors prey on your own fears, and can be fatal unless you carefully balance your mind, body, and spirit. Players can choose to flee or fight with an assortment of spiritual weapons and abilities in an effort to lock away the Gloom and escape from Glory Island.
The Chant arrives November 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
