Charges dropped against Mary Cosby for ‘unlawfully providing shelter to runaway’

Reality TV

Mary Cosby has been cleared of misdemeanor charges of “unlawfully providing shelter to a runaway” and “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”

“This motion is made upon the grounds that there are evidentiary concerns,” assistant Salt Lake City prosecutor Madison Barr wrote in court documents obtained by Fox 13 News Utah last week.

After the charges were dropped, the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star, 49, took to social media on Sunday to celebrate the legal win.

“I don’t live my life to please people I live my life to please God❤️🙏to the people who are committed believing lies! 🥰,” Cosby wrote in an Instagram caption along with screenshots of various tweets about the news.

In June 2021, Cosby pleaded not guilty after being charged on April 8, 2021. However, the details surrounding the charges were kept tightly under wraps.

Nonetheless, Cosby’s rep told us back in August that “Mary is saddened that she was dragged into another family’s domestic situation but is confident that this misunderstanding will be cleared up soon.”

Cosby’s lawyer previously claimed to Fox 13 that the charges “sound sinister,” but it was a misunderstanding that resulted after her son Robert Cosby Jr.’s girlfriend’s mom called the police while spending time at their home.

“Rather than the Salt Lake City Department focusing on real crime, they’re turning into the relationship police,” Robert’s lawyer, Clayton Simms, told the local news outlet in October 2021.

“The basis of this case is just a misunderstanding. We think there’s absolutely no merit to the case.”

Cosby starred in “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” for its first two seasons before she departed the series. The church leader chose not to attend the Season 2 reunion amid fallouts with most of the cast members.
