Following the release of their new Step by Step EP, Braxe + Falcon have announced a pair of U.S. shows taking place this fall. The duo of French house producers Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon will bring their live set to Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on November 5, with a second show at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on November 12. Today, Braxe + Falcon have also shared a music video for the EP’s title track, which features vocals from Panda Bear. The visual was written, directed, and produced by Toru Tokikawa and stars 12-year-old Japanese skate prodigy Ginwoo Onodera. Check it out below.

Onodera is the youngest athlete ever to sign with Nike. The video was shot in Tokyo, and includes footage from Ginwoo’s early skateboarding days as well as shots of him winning awards and landing tricks.

“Visualizing the appropriate video for ‘Step By Step’ was not easy, but when my director friend Toru Tokikawa came up with the idea of showing the growth of a child from a very young age through the practice of skateboarding, we instantly felt it was right for the song,” Braxe said of the clip in a press release. He continued:

As we grew up as skateboarders, we understand that skateboarding is a commitment, accepting the multiple failures until the trick is landed and then learning the next one until you reach freedom of movement and expression, it’s all done ‘step by step’. Toru cast Ginwoo Onodera, an incredible young skater whose softness, skills and enthusiasm shine on the screen, making it a subtle and moving video.

Braxe and Falcon are both pioneers of the French Touch genre, yet Step by Step marks their first collaboration as a duo. Braxe is best known as one-third of Stardust—whose sole single “Music Sounds Better With You” became a French house hit. The other two Stardust members were singer Benjamin Diamond and Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter. Falcon and Bangalter worked together on “Contact,” the closing song on Daft Punk’s final album Random Access Memories.
