Quakecon 2022 is underway, and as a way to kick things off, id Software has given fans a little treat. From now until August 25, you can snag DOOM 64 from the Epic Games Store for absolutely free.

You know the deal by now: sign up and download the Epic Games Store client, head to the store, find DOOM 64, add it to your cart and check out. It’s that simple to get in on a title that sadly was overlooked by a lot of people when it was released on the Nintendo 64 back in 1997.

If you missed the story originally, DOOM 64 takes place after the events of Final Doom, where a planetary policy is established to quarantine the U.A.C. research installations, which are now teaming with radiation. The installations were seemingly abandoned for years, until Earth receives a message from one of the orbiting satellites, indicating that the demons are back. Seeing as you were the only survivor of the original event, you’re tasked with heading down and cleaning things up again.

DOOM 64 is also available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. And hey, if you like DOOM 64‘s aesthetics, check out Andrew’s take on the game, calling it a “tribute to Ray Harryhausen”.
