“Southern Charm” star Venita Aspen wants to clear the air about her income.
Aspen, 28, tells Page Six exclusively that she does not make seven figures a month from being an Instagram influencer.
“They took that out of context. That is kicking me in my ass right now,” she says of a comment she made on the reality show.
That said, Aspen claims, “I could make seven figures a year on Instagram, which is still pretty wild.”
The Bravo newbie, who has more than 85,000 Instagram followers, turned heads when she claimed during the June 30 episode of “Southern Charm” that she could bring home $1 million-plus in a single month if she got “the right deals.”
“It’s wild how much money you can make as an influencer,” she said. “I don’t think people understand the hard work that goes into the backend of being an influencer.”
The comment shocked many viewers, who quickly took to social media.
“Shewww I knew venita was a pretty big influencer but 7figures [sic] in a month. I’m in the wrong line of work #SouthernCharm,” one fan tweeted.
“I like Venita but she doesn’t even have 100k followers on Instagram and says she makes all this money as an influencer it doesn’t add up to me #SouthernCharm,” another wrote.
While Aspen may not have as many Instagram followers as other major influencers, she tells us that her fan base has “come out of the woodwork” to support her reality TV venture.
“It’s been pretty wild,” Aspen says of joining the South Carolina-based series. “I’ve had a lot more people come out of the woodwork being like, ‘I’ve been following you for the last seven years, and it’s so cool to see your growth and now see that you’re on TV,’ and, like, kind of really setting the standard for a lot of people, which is wild.”
Aspen, who got into influencing after posting her modeling pics on Instagram, says that her biggest piece of advice to aspiring social media gurus is to “stay consistent.”
“Pick brands that you actually like to use, and make sure you’re using them daily, posting about it, talking about it and making it as authentic as you can,” she shares.
