Marcus Mumford has announced that his solo debut album will be released later this year. In a handwritten note posted to the vocalist’s social media accounts, Mumford wrote that the album, (Self-Titled), was produced by Blake Mills and includes guests appearances from Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, and Monica Martin.

“In January 2021, facing demons I danced with or a long time in solution, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,’” Mumford explained. “I took it to my friend Blake Mills, and we began the process of making this album, dear to my heart, called (Self-Titled).”

(Self-titled) is due out on September 16. Outside of Mumford & Sons, Marcus Mumford has collaborated with Taylor Swift, Ray Davies of the Kinks, Laura Marling, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, and others.

Mumford’s solo record will follow his group’s 2018 album Delta. In 2021, founding member Winston Marshall left the band after taking to social media to celebrate the publication of controversial journalist Andy Ngo’s book Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy.
