In a world where up is down and down is up, you can at least always tell that it’s Summertime when Big Brother is back on TV! That’s right, it’s time to expect the unexpected all over again, as the 24th installment – appropriately titled Big Brother 24 – is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 6th on CBS with a 90-minute episode. Today the all-new cast of the show was officially announced following weeks of heavy online speculation and debate, with the 16 houseguests set to move in to the Big Brother House where they will backstab (or float, depending on their personal preferences) their way to the $750,000 grand prize…all while their entire lives are documented and captured 24/7 by the hundreds of cameras and microphones placed throughout the BB House. The show is once again hosted by Julie Chen Moonves, who has hosted this American-version of the show since its inaugural season way back in July of 2000.
Here is more from the official press release from CBS:
“This season’s cast includes an attorney, a Vegas performer, a hypnotherapist, a private chef, a chemical processing engineer, an interior designer and a personal stylist, among others. With never-before-seen challenges, these 16 Houseguests are in for the summer of their lives at “BB Fest.” Also, a new twist will send the Houseguests scrambling, and, beginning on premiere night, the opportunity for America to vote will impact the game.”
Sounds like the fireworks will begin right off the bat this season, and the best news of all is that RealityTea will be recapping the show all season long! Be sure to follow us (follow me on Twitter – @tomsantilli and of course @realitytea) and check back by the next morning following every eviction episode all season long, starting this week after Wednesday’s Premiere Episode).
It looks like a promising and diverse cast (although yet again there are only two contestants over the age of 40…Big Brother often skews young with maybe one or two resident “old people”), and it will be interesting to see how the game will change coming after last season’s historic “Cookout” alliance…not to mention the twists and turns that the show will surely have planned all season long, beginning with a big one in the Premiere episode.
So enough talk…let’s meet the cast!
