Todrick Hall is being sued for $60,000 worth of back-owed rent on a lavish mansion the Celebrity Big Brother star previously claimed to own. Todrick has been facing criticism for how he played the game in season 3. Learning that he might’ve possibly fabricated his rights to a home he was living in is music to his enemies’ ears. New reports accuse Todrick of not paying rent on a home he made a whole video about claiming that he purchased.
The performer was the villain of season 3. Todrick rubbed his housemates and viewers the wrong way with his shady way of playing the game. While Todrick wasn’t crowned the winner, his conniving strategy helped him make it to the final two. During Todrick’s elimination, his housemates ripped him to shreds by sharing their honest opinions about him. After the finale, Todrick refused to do any press as he dealt with an onslaught of backlash from the cast and viewers. But as Todrick works to redeem himself in the public eye, the choreographer is facing more negative press.
On Thursday, court documents naming Todrick in a lawsuit came to light. The plaintiffs are after Todrick for $60,000 for back-owed rent on a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home in Sherman Oaks, California that the TV star was renting for $30k a month, Us Weekly reports. The rightful homeowners, Avi and Orna Lavian, served Todrick with a pay or quit notice on March 3. However, another occupant of the house accepted the paperwork. The plaintiffs’ attorney submitted the civil complaint to the court on March 29. But the suit comes over a year after Todrick posted a YouTube video he titled, “Bought My DREAM Home!!! FULL TOUR.“
The video has amassed over 500,000 views since Todrick posted it in February 2021. But now one year later and he’s being accused of not paying rent on the same home he claimed to own. The Lavians say Todrick hasn’t paid rent for the months of February and March 2022, meaning the singer has been renting the home for the last year since he made a video claiming to be the homeowner. In addition to the $60k, the Lavians are after Todrick for attorney fees, forfeiture of the agreement, damages at the rate of $1,000 per day, and “all other relief the court deems just and reasonable.” On Todrick’s YouTube, he gushed about how long he desired to buy a home. “This is a dream come true,” the singer/dancer says in the video before taking his followers on a tour. “I saw over 50 homes and decided to get this one. When I saw this one, I fell in love.”
It’s also the same home where Todrick invited the season 23 cast of Big Brother over to pick their brains ahead of his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year. With Todrick currently being away on tour, that might be why he wasn’t home to receive the suit and possibly why his rent hasn’t been paid. However, that doesn’t explain why the entertainer would make an entire video claiming to be the owner of a home he was renting. It seemingly highlights why Todrick did such a good job on the show due to his ability to convince the players he had their backs.
