A special edition of gay graphic novel series, Heartstopper is being released alongside the upcoming Netflix adaption.

The much-anticipated adaption of the best-selling YA series, by Alice Oseman is arriving on the streaming platform on 22 April.

Oseman has announced that fans can get a tie-in version of Heartstopper Volume One, with a new cover featuring the show’s stars.

It will be released on 28 April and fans can pre-order it from Amazon and Waterstones.

Joe Locke and Kit Connor who play Charlie and Nick have recreated the original cover for the special edition.

The photo was taken “especially for it” as they “wanted to create something extra special that combines the wonderful actors with the original cover”.

Oseman also confirmed on Twitter that the special edition of Heartstopper will “feature some excerpts of the TV scripts”.

“I picked some of the moments from the show that are very similar to scenes from the books so you can see how I wrote some iconic Heartstopper moments in script form,” she adds.

Fans have reacted positively to the special edition cover, with one Twitter user saying: “I love this so much!!!”.

Another added: “Don’t normally get variant covers when I already have a copy but this will be an exception”.

And somebody else said the actors are “so Nick and Charlie I’m sobbing”.

The writer also confirmed to a fan that the back cover will be different saying that she will reveal it “when it’s finalised”.

The graphic novel series and upcoming Netflix adaption, details the friendship between two boys – Charlie and Nick – at secondary school, which blossoms into an unexpected romance.

The eight-part series will premiere on Netflix on 22 April.

Netflix drops first Heartstopper trailer

The streaming service finally released the first trailer for the adaption of the graphic novel series and fans are obsessed.

The trailer shows the two lead characters first meeting, Charlie agonising about his “straight-boy crush” on rugby player Nick, and the two sharing a poignant “hi” in the pouring rain.

Following the release of the heartwarming trailer, one Twitter user called it “beautiful” and others said they were “in tears” over the clip.

Another commented on the trailer, saying: “WE QUEER PEOPLE JUST KEEP WINNING!”

And somebody else added: “I couldn’t have imagined having this on TV when I was a teenager.”
