Britney Spears has said her estranger father, Jamie Spears, “stripped” her womanhood away when her conservatorship engulfed her.
Saying that her father acted almost like a child, Britney reflected on the first day of her conservatorship in 2008, which handed her father broad control over her personal life and finances.
“The first day my dad became a conservator I will never forget !!!” she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post Monday evening (14 March), according to screen captures.
“He said sit down in that chair … we’re going to have a talk…”
“He said: ‘I’m Britney Spears and I call the shots from now on.’
“Ever since that day I felt a huge part of my womanhood stripped from me … I was never the same.”
But she is, and always will be, the legendary Miss Britney Spears.

Her claims appear to match up with a bombshell report in The New Yorker last July.
Former family friend Jacqueline Butcher said that Jamie, 69, would often bellow “I am Britney Spears!” in the early days of the complex legal arrangement.
The 69-year-old would also, she alleged, call his own daughter “fat”, a “whore” and a “terrible mother” to her two sons, soon to be eclipsed by the “abuse” and “control” she suffered for nearly 14 years.
Britney’s conservatorship was finally terminated in November by a Los Angeles probate judge, liberating the “Toxic” hitmaker to not only do things as simple as buying her own candles but even speak in Congress on behalf of those in conservatorships.
“But oh jeez !!!” the 40-year-old singer added. “13 years later and I say damn I got through it !!!!”
But Britney Spears, as emboldened as she feels today, said that part of her misses “the deep angst of living in secret” in the conservatorship. She felt “alive” shrouded in mystery, she admitted.
“If I told you when you were 19 that nine years from now, your dad is going to take over your whole career if you do this record, what the hell do you think [you] would have said ???” she added, likely referencing her 2008 LP Circus.
She suggested that, if given the chance again, she would never have agreed to make the album, saying: “Not NO, BUT HELL NO !!!”
Britney, whether in seething social media posts or court testimonies, has detailed the litany of misconduct she weathered in her conservatorship. This ranged from being forced to use contraception, stay in mental health facilities and perform against her will.
Only hours before a court hearing that would decide whether the arrangement would finally come to an end, she wrote on Instagram that she has never hoped for something as much as to be free.
“I haven’t prayed for something more in my life !!!,” she wrote. “I know I’ve said some things on my Insta out of anger and I’m sorry but I’m only human … and I believe you’d feel the same way if you were me 🤷🏼♀️ !!!
“Anyway, it’s a new day ☀️ and I can’t say I’m never going to complain again … cuz who knows 💁🏼♀️ !!!”
