Ikumi Nakamura, former Tango Gameworks’ creative director for the upcoming Ghostwire: Tokyo, has founded a new studio called UNSEEN. Referred to as “a borderless and mysterious game development studio”, Nakamura says that the new studio will develop games with a focus on mystery, horror, sci-fi, and the supernatural.

In an interview with IGN, Nakamura stated that the studio will focus on an international staff, with the Tokyo studio serving as a central hub. Her vision for UNSEEN is to “transcend various medium beyond the realm of video games.”

UNSEEN is already at work on a new title, which Nakamura suggested would lean towards horror. “I like mystery, I like horror films, I love zombies, and the supernatural and science fiction – I find these genres fascinating, and I’m good at them, so I want to keep working on games related to these subjects.”

Nakamura had started at Tango Gameworks as an artist on The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2 before jumping into the creative director role for Ghostwire: Tokyo. This news also comes after Nakamura had joined Kaizen Gameworks (whose current game Paradise Killer will head to the PlayStation and Xbox later this month) as their creative director on their next game.

Meanwhile, Ghostwire: Tokyo is set to release on March 25 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
