Kim Kardashian Receives Backlash For Saying ‘Nobody Wants To Work’

Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian, is facing backlash for saying ‘Nobody wants to work‘ in a recent interview. The reality star and her family will appear on screen again in their new reality show on Hulu. Their hit show, centering around their famous family, recently wrapped its 20-season run.

In its 20 seasons, Keeping Up with the Kardashians received plenty of media attention and drew in both the ire and admiration of its viewers. The famous family has a long history of public scandals and criticism. Most recently, Kim has been embroiled in an increasingly messy and emotional divorce from her ex, Kanye. She scored a victory, however, when Kim was declared legally single, which uncomplicates her current relationship with SNL star Pete Davidson, who Kim says will appear on the new Hulu series. In addition to the reality show, the Kardashian sisters are businesswomen: Kim is the CEO of Skims, Kourtney created the lifestyle website, Poosh, and Khloe co-founded the clothing line Good American.

In a Variety interview ahead of their new series, the Kardashian sisters made a few comments that have sparked anger online. “I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f**king a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days,” Kim said, to which Kourtney responded, “That’s so true.” Kim went on to add, “You have to surround yourself with people that want to work.” The online response to their interview has been heated, with people quick to point out the privilege and advantages the family has had in terms of wealth and connection. Actress Jameela Jamil, a longtime critic of the Kardashians, took to Twitter to write, “nobody needs to hear your thoughts on success/work ethic. This same 24 hours in the day sh*t is a nightmare. 99.9% of the world grew up with a VERY different 24 hours.”

In addition to Kim, Kourtney in particular is in hot water for agreeing with Kim’s comments. The mother of three grew increasingly resistant to filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which served as the central conflict for multiple fights with her sisters. Towards the end of the show, Kourtney admitted to acting as a villain, and fans noticed that she sported a bad attitude towards filming and working. In a 2018 episode on E! News, Kourtney said, “Work is not important to me,” and Kim was critical of Kourtney’s work ethic, complaining in an episode, “I think we’re just a little bit frustrated that you never show up to do work.” Fans highlighted Kourtney’s hypocrisy and slammed the star as sanctimonious and self-righteous.

While the Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars are no strangers to online hate, the timing of this bad press is poor with their new series premiering soon. The new show titled The Kardashians will focus on the family’s seemingly endless drama, and Kendall told viewers to expect the unexpected. With angry fans continuing to air their grievances with the family online, how the Kardashians will respond remains to be seen.
