Things weren’t all peachy keen between Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton while filming “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 14. In fact, they were “explosive.”
“Marlo, first of all, me and her bumped heads,” Burruss, 45, exclusively tells Page Six while promoting her latest Bravo spin-off “Kandi & the Gang.” “Child, she was throwing peaches at people!”
Hampton, 46, joined the latest installment of “RHOA” as a full-time “Housewife” following the departures of veteran cast members Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Williams.
After ten seasons of putting in the work as a “friend of” — bringing major drama and high-end fashion to the reality franchise — Hampton’s promotion came following years of pleas from fans and even Burruss herself.
“I was like, ‘Of all people, why is she coming for me?’” Burruss says with a laugh, acknowledging her advocacy for Hampton to finally receive a peach. “Like, we’re supposed to be on the same page! I don’t even know what happened.”
The “Don’t Think I’m Not” singer — who has appeared on “RHOA” since 2009’s Season 2 — says that her recent onscreen battle with Hampton seemingly came out of nowhere.
“It wasn’t like it was intentional. It wasn’t planned. One thing led to another and it was just explosive. It went out of control,” Burruss recounts of the scuffle, adding that she and Hampton repeatedly threw verbal jabs that “hit below the belt.”
“[We were] saying some really mean things to each other, let’s just say that.” she elaborates. “I don’t even know how they’re going to edit it to be clean because it was terrible.”
Burruss clarifies that she and Hampton “didn’t make physical threats” toward each other during the fight, though their harsh exchange of words certainly packed a punch.
“We really just talked back to each other, let’s just say [that],” she teases. “Tearing down everything you could tear down, it was just terrible.”
“RHOA” viewers may recall the women clashing during Season 4 after Hampton accused Burruss of being a “sugar mama” to a mystery man at the time.
The Bravolebrities were able to patch things up then and, fortunately, their friendship is back on track today. Just last night, Hampton supported Burruss by attending the premiere party for “Kandi & the Gang” at the latter star’s Old Lady Gang restaurant.
“We’re cool now,” Burruss says. “But there was a moment where I wondered how we were going to come back from the fight.”
With their beef squashed, the Grammy-winning songwriter is excited for fans to see Hampton shine on the forthcoming “RHOA” season.
“I have to give her credit. She brought her mom on the show and we already know she’s talked about her struggles with her mother, so to be able to see her mom finally, that was a big deal to me,” Burruss says of her pal, adding that she “brought a lot” to the show.
“It was a whole bunch of stuff going on [with Hampton].”
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 14 has yet to receive a premiere date. “Kandi & the Gang” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
