It’s only been one episode so far, but already Below Deck Sailing Yacht has set sail to a fantastic start. We’ve seen guests fall down on deck. Multiple times. Gary King, Daisy Kelliher, and Colin Macrea have formed an OG trifecta, and agreed not to do anything they did last year, while still doing the exact opposite. And we’ve seen some really amazing looking food come out of the galley by new Chef Marcos Spaziani. Canape perfection anyone?
Gary has already broken the promise he gave us to avoid messy hook-ups and love triangles or potential quadrilaterals. Boy kissed both Daisy and third stew Ashley Marti before the first charter even boarded. Messy indeed. And while we aren’t quite sure how exactly this is going to play out, off-season Gary and Daisy have been spending quite a lot of time together. They even took a day to play at Disneyland. Interesting.
However, Gary wasn’t the only one caught up in a potential love triangle. From the get-go, Ashley was quite clear that both Gary and Tom Pearson were her type. Tom for his looks, and Gary for his age. Clearly this was a case of age before beauty, because Ashley wasted no time in letting Gary know he could kiss her. Not my cup of tea, but it is what it is.

Ashley appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live to discuss all things Gary with Andy Cohen. As covered by The Daily Dish, Ashley “admitted that it was ‘1000 percent cringe’ seeing herself telling the first mate that it was OK to kiss her that first night.” Sure Jan. It wasn’t so much telling him as begging him, but tomato, tomahto.
Girl clearly knew what she was getting herself into. Ashley admitted to Andy that she had watched last season and was aware of the hook-up drama between Sydney Zaruba and Alli Dore. “It clearly didn’t impact my view,” said Ashley. Say what you will, but at least the girl owns it. Now if only we could get Captain Glenn Shepard‘s take on the whole situation. I’d love to hear what he has to say about all of this. Or maybe just catch an exasperated sigh. Kids.

Below Deck Mediterranean Star Bobby Giancola is friends with Ashley off charter. Bobby himself is no stranger to shipboard romances, so had no problem passing on some good advice. “Don’t screw the crew.” Which Ashley promptly ignored. As you do. At least wait for after the first charter to make your move. Just saying.
While Ashley was attracted to Gary‘s “Tarzan vibe,” ultimately “[Gary]’s funny. He makes me laugh, and that’s all I can ask for.” I don’t know about you, but I’d ask for someone who’s kissing is better than “average.” But maybe that’s just me.
