New Details Revealed During ‘Ghostwire: Tokyo’ Showcase, Including Pre-order Bonuses, Gameplay

Horror

In case you missed the news yesterday, Bethesda’s Ghostwire: Tokyo finally has a release date. Not only that, Sony had a showcase of the game in action earlier, and along with it, more details of what to expect when the game drops.

Ghostwire: Tokyo takes place in the aforementioned city after a mysterious fog rolls in, causing all of the city’s inhabitants to disappear. In their place, the city is flooded with monsters led by Hannya and his followers, known as the Visitors. You play as Akido, having awakened in the streets of Tokyo after “the Vanishing”, and possessed by a mysterious spirit with strange elemental powers. It’s this power of Ethereal Weaving that you’ll need to master to defeat Hannya.

Your Ethereal Weaving abilities allow you to master raw Ether, including wind, fire, and water. As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to learn new abilities, as well as upgrade them, and tailor them to your playstyle. You’ll also be able to free untethered souls to gain experience for you to upgrade your abilities.

In addition to your new powers, you’ll also have access to more traditional weapons, but with a mystical twist. You’ll also be able to use Ethereal Weaving to swing around the city, making navigation much quicker than if you were on foot.

The fog that engulfed Tokyo is still lingering.  Not only will it sap your health if you venture into it, but is also host to some of the more sinister monsters in Hannya’s army. To clear the fog, you’ll need to cleanse corrupted Torii gates scattered around the city.

Finally, those who pre-order Ghostwire: Tokyo from the PlayStation Store will gain early access to the game on March 22. Not only that, but the pre-order bonus includes access to the Streetwear Outfit Pack, Shinobi Outfit, and Kunai Weapon.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will arrive March 25 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
