The upcoming Queer as Folk reboot has a stunningly diverse LGBT+ cast – and we can’t wait to watch it.

Model, actor and deaf activist, Nyle DiMarco is the latest name confirmed to be joining the anticipated reboot.

The new American spin-off of the Russell T Davies series will explore the lives of a modern-day, diverse group of friends in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The plot follows the group “whose lives are transformed in the wake of a still-unknown tragedy”.

The eight-part series is written and directed by Stephen Dunn, and will star a largely LGBT+ cast.

It will be available to stream on Peacock in the US and UK, with a release date expected to be announced soon.

Until then we’ve got all the details you need on the cast, the characters they’re playing and how to watch the series.

Who’s in the Queer as Folk reboot?

The diverse cast for the upcoming Queer as Folk reboot is putting LGBT+ actors in LGBT+ roles – and we love to see it.

The latest cast announcement for the reboot is Nyle DiMarco, who will make a guest star appearance as “a charming grad student”.

He joins icon, Kim Cattrall, who will play a recurring role described as a “martini-soaked, high society southern debutant with trailer park roots.”

Ryan O’Connell, best known for Netflix’s Special, is playing “a pop culture nerd with cerebral palsy who is more than ready for some independence”.

Benito Skinner will play a self-aggrandizing influencer, Armand Fields appears as the drag queen matriarch of the local scene and Chris Renfro will play a fun-loving hedonist who is the life of the party.

Other recurring roles include Eric Graise, who is playing a jaded barfly and Sachin Bhatt, as a charming and empathetic sex worker.

Plus Ed Begley Jr. will play an emotionally distant father and Juliette Lewis will play a single mother who is more of a friend than a parent to her teenage son.

The previously announced main cast includes non-binary actor, Candace Grace who will portray a non-binary professor navigating the rocky transition from punk to parenthood.

Johnny Sibilly will star as a successful lawyer who is not as put together as he seems and Fin Argus will play a cocky high schooler whose confidence belies his lack of real-world experience.

Devin Way is set to play a charming and sometimes chaotic commitment-phobe who finds a reason to stay in New Orleans after the tragedy.

Meanwhile Jesse James Keitel, who was the first announced cast member, will play “a trans, somewhat reformed party girl who is struggling to grow up.”

The trailblazing non-binary actor said they were “honored”, “thrilled” and “in genuine disbelief to be joining this iconic show”.

O’Connell recently shared some behind-the-scenes snaps on his Instagram page, captioning the post: “can you believe we were all straight before filming?”.
