Paradise lost.
Three months after getting engaged on the “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 7 finale, Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian have called it quits.
“We have decided to go our separate ways. Never did we imagine this, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves,” Gunn, 25, and Christian, 32, told People in a joint statement on Monday.
“We’ve appreciated everyone’s love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this.”
News of the pair’s split comes weeks after they sparked breakup rumors online.
Bachelor Nation sleuths noticed that Gunn had deleted most of her Instagram photos with Christian earlier this month. This came after the Atlanta-born influencer posted a video of herself posing in the mirror without her engagement ring.
For his part, Christian posted a series of cryptic tweets that seemed to imply trouble in paradise.
“Try not [to] be stagnant when facing obstacles that are beyond your control,” he tweeted on Jan. 6.
The New York City-based attorney continued, “Just do what you can. That way, when things finally do fall into place, you’ll be able to hit the ground running.”
Gunn and Christian became a fan-favorite couple after falling in love on the beaches of “BiP.”
“See, Maurissa, I love you,” Christian told Gunn during his proposal. “And I’ve loved you since our very first date. I just need to be sure. That said, will you marry me?”
Gunn, of course, said yes and allowed Christian to slip a teardrop Neil Lane sparkler on her finger.
Gunn and Christian were among three couples to get engaged on the latest installment of the summer spin-off. Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile and Mari Pepin and Kenny Braasch, the other pairings, are still together.
