In an exclusive interview with Page Six, “Vanderpump Rules” star Katie Maloney explained that she missed former castmates Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright while filming Season 9 of Bravo’s hit reality show.
“It was definitely a different season overall,” Maloney said of the series’ latest installment, which aired its finale Tuesday night ahead of a dramatic two-part reunion.
“It was minus some of the people I had been on this journey with for a long time.”
The “You’re Gonna Love Me” podcast host admitted that she “selfishly” would like to see her friends — namely Schroeder, 33, and Doute, 38 — return after making controversial exits that coincided with 2020’s Black Lives Matter movement.
The duo — who, alongside Maloney, launched “Pump Rules” in 2013 — were fired in June 2020 after it was revealed that they called the police on their former castmate Faith Stowers, the only black star of the show, for a crime that she did not commit.
Schroeder and Doute later apologized for their actions.
“I still see them all the time. I still hang out with them all the time,” Maloney said of her fellow “Witches of WeHo.” “So, it would be nice to have that part of my life still be present on the show.”
Still, the TV personality understands that it’s a nuanced situation.
“It’s not just my life on the show,” she continued, acknowledging the pain that Schroeder and Doute caused Stowers, 32, and others. “It’s so much more complicated than that. And I’m aware of that.”
Meanwhile, Cartwright, 32, and husband Jax Taylor — who previously helmed their own spin-off called “Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky” — were axed from the cast by December 2020 seemingly without reason.
With time, Maloney expressed optimism that there is potential for all three women to come back in the future.
“Never say never. I don’t even know how the future of the show [looks],” she said. “I hope the show keeps going on forever and ever and ever, so if that’s the case, then who knows? Probably.”
The new dynamic among the Season 9 cast — also including Maloney’s husband, Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Raquel Leviss, Scheana Shay, Brock Davies, Lala Kent and Charli Burnett — provided space for Maloney to step into her power as an entrepreneur.
By the end of Season 9, she and Madix, 36, revealed their plan to open a sandwich shop called Something About Her, the “chic, unapologetically feminine” answer to the Toms’ new bar Schwartz & Sandy’s.
“I had a bit of a growing moment. I felt a little lost at the beginning and wanted to really kind of fit in with the guys and their place,” she recalled. “But then with Ariana, when she was like, ‘I’ll join in on this sandwich shop adventure with you,’ I was like, ‘Yes!’
“I felt like my calling had revealed itself at the end there, which is really exciting.”
Part one of the “Vanderpump Rules” Season 9 reunion airs Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
