Bronx rapper Kay Flock was arrested on December 23 on a charge of first-degree murder, his attorney Scott E. Leemon confirmed to Pitchfork. According to the Daily News, Kay Flock—an 18-year-old born Kevin Perez—is suspected of shooting and killing a 24-year-old man in Manhattan on December 16. In addition to the murder charge, Kay Flock is facing two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, according to online records viewed by Pitchfork.
In a formal statement, shared with Pitchfork on December 24, Leemon said:
Kay Flock broke out in August with the single “Being Honest.” A couple of months later, G Herbo joined him for a remix of the hit. Both versions of “Being Honest” are included on Kay Flock’s debut project, The D.O.A. Tape, which got released in November via Capitol Records.
A court appearance took place today (January 4). The next court appearance is set for February 10.
