With Love is hilarious, heartwarming, and heartbreaking at times which makes it a well-rounded show. And centering each episode around a different holiday gives each episode a fun way to include the Diaz’s siblings’ culture in varying ways. The only complaint fans have had is that season 1 is too short, leaving them wondering what to stream next. Luckily, there are a handful of shows that offer similar stories for fans to enjoy.

Based on the young adult novel of the same nameDash & Lily follows two New York teenagers who have never met but communicate and dare each other to go on fun adventures through a red notebook. Over the course of their one-week adventure, the two end up falling for each other and become determined to figure out who they’ve been talking to.

While Dash & Lily is geared towards a younger audience, the shows do have some similarities. Most notably, they both center around holidays with Dash & Lily taking place between Christmas and New Year.

Gentefied (2020-)

Gentefied is arguably one of Netflix’s most underrated original series of all time. The series follows three cousins in Los Angeles who are all chasing after the “American Dream” while trying to keep their beloved family business afloat in their changing neighborhood. The show also makes a point to showcase how important the Morales’ Mexican culture is to them.

Like With Love, Gentefied centers on a multigenerational family and all the laughter and drama that comes from that. Both also show the tight-knit bond between cousins who are trying to navigate adulthood together.

Jane The Virgin (2014-2019)

Stream On Netflix

Jane The Virgin became a massive hit for The CW when it began airing in 2014. Borrowing from popular telenovela tropes, the series centers on Jane, a twentysomething who accidentally becomes artificially inseminated while going in for a routine check-up. What follows is a hilarious show about family, parenthood, and love as Jane navigates her forever-changing world.

While Jane The Virgin might be a bit more tropey than With Love, the shows do have similar tones and emphasize the same themes. In fact, one of the biggest similarities is how much Jane and the Diaz siblings value their family’s approval when it comes to all areas of their lives.

Life In Pieces (2015-2019)

Stream On Hulu & Amazon Prime

The cast of Life In Pieces posing on the couch

Many felt Life In Pieces was CBS’s response to the success of ABC’s Modern Familybut the show managed to stand on its own for four seasons. The comedy series centered on three generations of the Short family, with each episode featuring four vignettes that eventually came together in the end.

Life In Pieces is similar to With Love in that both shows featured multigenerational families with each family getting a plot in each episode. Though it’s true Life In Pieces is much less diverse than With Love, the problems and situations each family finds themselves in are quite similar.

Love Life (2020-)

Stream On HBO Max

Marcus and Mia staring at each other on the couch in Love Life

HBO Max’s Love Life first premiered in 2020 with Anna Kendrick as Darby and followed her through various stages of her romantic endeavors as she matured. Having concluded Darby’s arc in season 1, season 2 centered on an entirely new character, Marcus, as he navigated the highs and lows of his own love life.

What makes Love Life so unique is that it’s an anthology series, meaning no two seasons are the same. While that’s not the case for With Love, the shows are similar because they both focus on the challenges that young people are facing when it comes to finding lasting relationships in today’s world.

Modern Love (2019-)

Stream On Amazon Prime

Modern Love is one of Amazon’s more interesting shows considering it’s based on a weekly column published weekly in The New York Times. An anthology series, each episode of the show features a different set of characters who are dealing with love in its various forms.

Unlike With Love which lets audiences bond with the characters over several episodes, audiences of Modern Love only get to see the characters in one episode but the formula works. Even though they operate differently, both shows are able to tackle a wide variety of love from young people finding love on dating apps to married couples dealing with the loss of love in their relationship.

Rebooted from the Norman Lear sitcom of the ’70s, this modern One Day At A Time centered on Penelope Alvarez, an Army veteran, and newly single mom as she navigates life with her over-the-top Cuban-American family. The series was beloved by many for its heartfelt and hilarious episodes.

It’s no surprise With Love and One Day At A Time share the same comedy/drama style since they were both created by Gloria Calderón Kellett. Both shows also feature hilarious and wise Abuela characters and emphasize the importance of inclusion in all of its forms.

Though The Baker and the Beauty only ran for one season on ABC, it did make quite an impression on fans of the show who were devastated by its cancelation. However, his life takes a turn when he meets and begins to fall for Noa, an international superstar.

The Pearsons outside on Kevin's wedding day in This Is Us

NBC’s This Is Us became one of the best shows of all time when it began airing in 2015 and hasn’t slowed down since. In 2022 it’ll air its final season which will finally give die-hard fans all the answers they’ve been begging for about the beloved Pearson family.

While With Love doesn’t play with the past, present, and future timelines like This Is Us does, it does mess with time a bit considering it jumps around depending on what holiday is at the center of the episode. Both shows also emphasize the importance of a strong sibling bond as they get older.

Vida (2018-2020)

Stream On Starz

Lyn and Emma in Vida

Vida is yet another underrated Latinx show that ended far too soon. The drama centered on Lyn and Emma, two Mexican-American siblings who are nothing alike and have become estranged as adults. However, the two must reconnect when a death in the family forces them back into their childhood neighborhood.

While Lyn and Emma might not be thick as thieves like Jorge and Lily, the two do eventually form a complicated relationship. Culture is also a big part of the drama series like With Love, which is another similarity.
