Selling Sunset: Chrishell & Jason Share Statements About Their Breakup

Movies

After various reports that Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim ended their relationship this week, the Selling Sunset stars have now issued their own breakup statements on social media. When Netflix first released Selling Sunset season 1 back in 2019, Chrishell was a 38-year-old soap opera actress transitioning into a career in real estate. In turn, 40-year-old Jason was already the co-owner of the Oppenheim Group alongside his twin brother Brett.

Upon their first introduction to Selling Sunset fans, Chrishell was married to This Is Us actor Justin Hartley, while Jason was someone who had dated the Oppenheim Group realtor Mary Fitzgerald in the past. As the seasons went by, Chrishell and Jason developed a great relationship not only as real estate peers and reality TV costars, but also as friends. Then, in July 2021, they shocked the world with the announcement that they were now dating as well. By December 2021, reports came out that Chrishell and Jason had already broken up.

Now, Chrishell and Jason have issued their respective statements addressing their breakup. As seen in the post below, Chrishell shared a lengthy statement divided into three images. She wrote, “Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward. Men have the luxury of time that women don’t and that’s just the way it goes.” Chrishell then addressed the fact that she’s handling this breakup in a public manner, which also happened when she got a divorce from Justin Hartley and broke up with Dancing With The Stars costar Keo Motsepe. Despite the difficulties of doing things so publicly, she claimed that “it’s easier to live transparently” when all is said and done. Chrishell’s full post can be seen below.

Meanwhile, Jason also issued a statement that was originally shared via Instagram Story but was then posted to his grid. Like Chrishell, he reiterated that they are best friends and that their breakup won’t change how much they love and respect each other. Jason also wrote, “She was the most amazing girlfriend I’ve ever had, and [ours] was the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life.” Jason followed that up by also mentioning that his differences with Chrishell stem from having “different wants regarding a family,” which is the same thing she said in her own statement. This is nothing like Chrishell and Justin’s dramatic divorce, which took place in 2020 and played out on Selling Sunset season 3.

Jason and Chrishell clearly had a wonderful relationship and are having a very amicable breakup. It is common for reality TV stars to end their relationships with a bang when the news reaches the public. However, it seems like these Selling Sunset costars aren’t letting things get to that place, which is great for the fans to see.
