Another Persona rumor has surfaced, this time suggesting that Persona 4 will receive a collection comprised of Golden and Arena Ultimax for PlayStation 4 and Switch. Persona 4 has been getting a resurgence in recent years, and this would continue the trend that started in 2020.
In 2020, Persona 4 Golden released on Steam, finally freeing it from its status as a Playstation Vita exclusive. Its release caused it Persona 4 to break Steam records at the time, making it have the highest player base out of any JRPG game on Steam. The 2021 Game Awards recently announced that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will get a multiplatform release on PlayStation, PC, and Switch. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is the second game in the series to hit the Switch, with the first being Persona 5 Strikers – both series spin-offs.
This most recent rumor comes from a leak from the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax website. According to Twitter user Faz (via Wccftech), adding “/v2” to the website address reveals a Midnight Channel collection for Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. This collection includes both Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, with the latter already scheduled to come to Nintendo Switch on March 17, 2022. This version of the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax website is no longer live, but it can still be accessed using the Wayback machine.
This rumor comes hot on the heels of another recent rumor of Persona 3 Portable getting a multiplatform release, including the Switch. Coincidentally, the leaker who started that rumor, Zippo, also corroborates the rumors of the Persona 4 Golden collection. These rumors are notably leaking in the middle of Persona’s 25th anniversary, when there are still projects yet to be revealed. Whether these rumors are true is hard to say for certain, seeing as rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
With that said though, the odds of this rumor being true are in its favor – given the source is from the official site. Still, even with these rumors, there’s yet to be information on if Persona 5 will receive this same treatment as Persona 3 and 4. But should Persona 4 indeed come to the Switch, it would be the first mainline Persona game to hit the console; and if Persona 3 Portable were to arrive as well on the console, that would be two big Persona titles on the Switch. 2022 will tell if these rumors will come to pass – and for the time being, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is still scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation, and the Switch.
