A long-awaited posthumous LP from A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg is finally slated for release. It’s titled Forever, and it’s out March 22, 2022. The announcement coincides with what would have been the late rapper’s 51st birthday. See more below.

Dion Liverpool, a longtime associate of Phife Dawg and one-time manager of A Tribe Called Quest, worked on completing the project with approval from Phife’s estate. He shared a statement about his work on the record:

We faced a lot of ups and downs trying to get the album completed, and only by God’s grace and patience were we able to. I would like to thank his fans for being patient and understanding that nothing that is good and timeless will happen overnight. I took on the responsibility to help the family complete Forever and honored that I was trusted to do so. Happy bday Phifey.

Forever includes “Nutshell Part 2,” which arrived earlier this year with guest appearances from Busta Rhymes and Redman. Another single released in May, “French Kiss Deux,” features Illa J, J Dilla’s brother. Phife died at age 45 in 2016 due to complications from diabetes.
