Carole Baskin Is Suing Netflix Over Tiger King 2

Reality TV

Remember Carole Baskin? Stupid question. OF COURSE you remember Carole. Images from the Netflix docuseries Tiger King: Joe Exotic and its cast of insane characters are burned in our brains forever. Tiger King opened our eyes to people like Joe Exotic, Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, and Jeff Lowe. Before this I had no idea that people could live with multiple lovers AND countless lions and tigers. Nor did I ever think that there would be that much drama in the big cat business. But alas, anything goes here – including murder.

Tiger King centered on Joe Exotic’s foiled murder-for-hire plot. He hired Alan Glover to behead Carole for talking about how Joe mistreated his cats. Thankfully, Alan understood that he could just take the $3,000 Joe paid him and party in Florida instead. Joe, unfortunately, didn’t receive a pardon from Donald Trump, so he’s currently serving 22 years in prison and was forced to give Carole his zoo. Karma is real! Joe tried to defend his actions, suggesting that Carole actually killed her first husband. In the documentary, it’s alluded that Carole literally fed him to the tigers. The story is so wild it obviously garnered tons of attention in 2020. To keep the train rolling, Netflix is set to release a second season of Tiger King later this year. Carole however wants no part in it!

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Carole “just filed suit against producers of the mega-hit and the streaming giant itself, asking a judge to put the kibosh on footage of her and her Big Cat Rescue in the upcoming ‘Tiger King 2’ project.” Carole is arguing that “all the new video of her that they’re teasing in their trailer completely misrepresents reality … namely, that she is NOT on board with this new project whatsoever.”

“All this footage is just unused stuff that didn’t make the cut for ‘Tiger King‘,” according to Carole’s side. She is ultimately saying “that producers are simply rehashing/repackaging it to make it seem like she’s given new interviews or insight.” Instead, it’s allegedly all old footage from the first season. This makes sense because Carole was not asked to be in the additional Tiger King episode after season one premiered.

It actually seems like Carole has a case, too. She is claiming that “the contract she signed to participate in the first series simply doesn’t give producers a right to continue using the footage in the subsequent projects … including this sequel.”

Bottom line, Carole “wants a judge to force Netflix to yank any footage of her in the promotional trailers and final product…” I would too if I were Carole. They framed her as a murderer in the first documentary, which was supposed to focus on how she was the victim of a murder-for-hire plot. However, a Tiger King without Carole is not a Tiger King I want to see.
