On May 10, 2021, when Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams announced that she was in a relationship with Simon Guobadia, it was the bombshell that no one expected. Simon was the (almost) ex-husband of Porsha’s RHOA co-star, Falynn Guobadia. And Simon is friends with Porsha’s ex-fiancé, and baby daddy, Dennis McKinley. Awkward!
Porsha proclaimed her love for her new boo on Instagram. “Our relationship began a month ago—yes we are crazy in love. For all of you that need facts, I get the optics but Simon filed for divorce from a previous marriage in January,” Porsha wrote. “I had nothing to do with their divorce filing. Falynn and I are not friends, and Simon’s divorce has been settled.”
Simon shared the news that the couple was engaged. He presented Porsha with a knuckle-busting diamond ring reportedly worth $1.25 million.
But according to a statement from Falynn, their divorce wasn’t finalized yet. There is no denying that the timeline is sketchy. And Porsha and Simon received a lot of backlash about their warp-speed engagement.
Porsha called her RHOA co-stars’ reaction to her engagement “shady as hell.” Marlo Hampton and Kenya Moore, who enjoy an adversarial relationship with Porsha, held a shade parade. In a video that Marlo posted on Twitter, she said, “I don’t f*** with her but I don’t think that’s real. Porsha likes fine [men], but guess what? Good storyline.” Kenya posted a video to Twitter of Nicki Minaj yelling, “DID I LIE?” Well damn!
Former Atlanta peach Eva Marcille blasted Porsha for ignoring “girl code” and posting on social media about her new love. The skepticism about this romance even spread to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Garcelle Beauvais stated that Porsha and Simon’s engagement sounded like a storyline.
Once Falynn’s divorce was finalized, she sounded off on Simon’s engagement. Falynn said, “Do I think that [their relationship is] for show? Absolutely. With the timelines, 100%.” That timeline is not a good look. Falynn also claimed that Simon revealed that Porsha slept with his cousin to score a Rolls Royce. That sounds crazy. Falynn later alleged that Simon can’t have children because of his heavy smoking and drinking.

According to HollywoodLife, Porsha popped the question to Simon on September 27, 2021, and gave him a ring from Tiffany & Co. The Bravo’s Chat Room host is serious about this man.
Porsha’s bestie Shamea Morton, who is responsible for this controversial match, recorded the moments after the proposal. Porsha cried and then embraced Simon. While the couple cried together, Shamea commented on the action. “This is some really epic stuff, ” Shamea said. “Aww guys, this is love. L-O-VE, love.” We get the point, Shamea.
Porsha asked Simon to show her the ring, so he showed her his hand. Simon flashed his new bling at the camera while Shamea and Porsha laughed and even sang together.
Porsha shared the video on her Instagram. In the caption, Porsha wrote, “Crazy IN LOVE PART / 2 Taken 4 real. I said yes and so did he !!!” she stated. “Yes we both are professing our love and reminded every time we look down at our left hand that thus is a promise and love that will last a lifetime!! We will be husband and wife and I can’t freaking wait!” Porsha said. “Love you Pooh!”
Now all Porsha needs to do is plan three weddings.
