Breath of the Wild Lynel Hit Player So Hard They Got Stuck Underground

Movies

During a mini-boss battle with one of the Lynel creatures that roam around The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one player took a blow that knocked them deep underground. As fearsome Centaur-like beasts, Breath of the Wild’s Lynel enemies are known to be quite formidable in combat.

These creatures have appeared in several Legend of Zelda titles in the past, counting amongst Hyrule’s most ancient denizens. In BOTW, the Lynels combat prowess often sees them summoning fireballs, firing off arrows, and using a vast array of other abilities that ensures they remain difficult to nail down. Their resistance to elemental effects make them all the more powerful in the throes of battle. But these maned centaur-adjacent heavies don’t survive on brute force alone; Lynels possesses intellectual qualities as well. Thus, all who mean to take them on in Breath of the Wild’s open world better come prepared.

Reddit user Nerosiwel seemed prepared moments before jumping into battle with a white-maned Lynel wielding a massive, ornate club. Their health full and armor prepped, the player appeared to enter the match confidently. Unfortunately, they didn’t remain on the field for very long. Within seconds of the user getting into position, the Lynel attacked, the club held high above its head for a bashing that Nerosiwel won’t soon forget. The player took more than damage when the blow struck; they were also thrown deep underground and into a watery grave. To make matters worse, blasts of lightning from above kept Nerosiwel dodging attacks even while trying to swim to safety. Someone’s been eating their Wheaties it seems. See the short-lived Lynel fight featured in the following clip:

Again, the Lynels in BOTW often prove themselves to be the stuff of nightmares. Another Reddit video from this past summer showed one of the beasties sneak attacking poor Link, letting loose a blow so fierce, so mighty that the player was instantly met with a “Game Over” screen.

Who can say for sure what the creatures may have up their sleeve should they appear in Breath of the Wild 2? Nintendo announced the sequel a few months ago during E3 2021; however, precious little about the eagerly-awaited title has surfaced since then.
