Blake Horstmann is breaking his silence on his relationship with Becca Kufrin before she went on Bachelor in Paradise this season. Before Becca’s stint on the Mexico-based reality series, Blake and Becca were dating during her season of The Bachelorette. The two were head over heels for each other through the entire process, with many believing Blake would be the one Becca would give her final rose to. Unfortunately, she accepted a proposal from Garrett Yrigoyen, who split with Becca last year.
Shortly after Becca announced the end of her relationship with Garrett, fans began to wonder if Becca would reignite her romance with Blake. At first, Becca had no interest in dating someone new, just yet, as she was still healing from the loss of a two-year relationship. However, fans began to notice that the former couple were liking each other’s Instagram posts, leading many to believe there was more than just a friendship between Becca and Blake.
During a new episode of Blake’s podcast, Behind The Rose, the 32-year-old took a jab at the former Bachelorette after she tried to downplay their relationship before Becca left for BIP this summer. “Honestly, at this point, it’s just, like, something I don’t know if I even want to waste my breath. I just feel like, at this point, it’s just a waste of time,” he told his cohost Erik Bradley during Wednesday’s new episode. “Listen, I was hurt by the podcast […] it’s no secret that we were hanging out prior. I don’t think it was some secret […] More than anything, I was hurt by it.” Blake then called the 31-year-old out, claiming there was more between them than what she led on. Blake, who blamed producers for him and Becca not being together, revealed that his friends “certainly know the truth” about their relationship prior to Paradise and that even “her friends sure as s–t know the truth.”
The BIP alum believes Becca, who blasted the show for lack of diversity, was trying to downplay their relationship to protect another relationship with “someone or something.” He vowed at the end of the conversation to never talk about Becca or their relationship again. Now, Blake feels like he can finally move on. Late last month, Becca appeared on the Click Bait podcast, where she told a different story about her relationship with Blake. “Blake and I have always been friends,” she said on the podcast. “In terms of the ‘talking,’ yeah, we’ve been in touch very sporadically, but nothing that I would say would warrant … a potential relationship.” She added that he made it seem as though Becca and Blake weren’t dating because of production. According to Becca, “If we’re not together, then … it’s because we chose not to be together. It can’t be put on anyone else.”
Overall, Blake is hurt by Becca disregarding the relationship they had before she joined BIP. No one enjoys the feeling of being dismissed, especially if it’s by someone you have strong feelings for. Right now, Becca is still a contestant on the show, so no one knows for sure if she found love in Paradise. If not, it seems the door to a potential relationship with Blake is officially shut.
Bachelor in Paradise airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
