Megan Rowe is a popular face on American Ninja Warrior after previously competing on season 11, and fans think the current season may hold her best run yet. On the course, Megan is full of energy and always racing to get to the next obstacle. Off the course, she shows just as much tenacity.
Originally from Rochester, Minnesota, Megan has stayed in the Midwest throughout her whole life. The 24 year old currently lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and works as a graphic designer and barista when not training or coaching others. Outside of work, Megan enjoys rock climbing and axe throwing, the hobby that earned her the nickname, “Axe Throwing Ninja.” She developed the moniker into a play on her last name when she returned for her second season, donning a shirt with “the axe th-ROWE-ing ninja” across the front. Viewers were captivated by Megan as she showed off one of her throwing axes before taking on the course.
Megan first got into ANW through her boyfriend Dalton Knapp, who also competed on American Ninja Warrior. Dalton and his brother were training for the show when the couple met, and Megan quickly fell in love with it. She soon got the call to be on the show in 2019 during her senior year of college. Megan actually chose to skip her graduation in order to attend qualifiers. Taking that chance has certainly paid off for Megan, who has returned in season 13 for her third appearance on the show.
The “Axe Throwing Ninja” has been a sharp competitor since her debut run on the show, returning each season since. In the current season, Megan has made it through the semifinals, the furthest in her three years on the show. She breezed through the first four obstacles on the course but ran into a hiccup at the fifth obstacle, the Drop Off. The new American Ninja Warrior obstacle was designed to drop when contestants turned it past a certain rotation, and one of the elements hit Megan in the head when it dropped. She persevered, completing that obstacle and passing the Warped Wall right after. Alongside her boyfriend, fellow competitor Meagan Martin cheered her on from the sidelines. While Megan is still holding out hitting the buzzer at the end of the course, fans can’t wait to see her take on the national finals in Las Vegas later this season.
Even after three years on American Ninja Warrior, Megan is still a relatively new addition to the regulars on the show. Her bright personality caught viewers’ attention and has made them cheer for her each time she takes on the course. With a positive attitude and intense devotion to the sport, Megan is sure to make an impact this season and beyond.
American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8 PM ET on NBC.
