Dark Take on “Pinocchio” in Soulslike ‘Lies of P’ Launches Teaser Website

Horror

By now, you’ve probably seen James Gunn’s handiwork in The Suicide Squad (if you haven’t, check out Meg’s review). Some of you gamers might have seen it and thought one particular scene looked kind of familiar. Well, that’s because it was.

In an interview with Collider, Gunn talked about his filmmaking process, and one of the questions that came up was in regards to Harley’s hallway fight. If you’ve played 2012’s Lollipop Chainsaw for the PS3 or 360, you’re now remembering where you’ve seen that before.

“In [Lollipop Chainsaw], which I did was with [Goichi Suda] in Japan, I always loved the way that the hearts and beautiful little things came out of people mixed with blood,” explains Gunn. “So, a lot of it goes back to that, the aesthetic of mixing this horrible gore with Harley’s starry-eyed way of looking at life and creating Harley-vision basically. So that was something that came on very early. It was in the first draft of the script.”

Of course, now you’re probably asking yourself why we haven’t gotten a sequel to Lollipop Chainsaw. After all, the game was an absolute blast, chock full of horror references, and sold over a million copies worldwide. Heck, even Suda wants to do it! So what’s the hold-up?

Well, Warner Bros. still owns the rights to it, and in order for the sequel to get off the ground, Suda would need to get their okay. He’d also want James Gunn involved again, which just adds another complication. Will we see a sequel? You never know.

The Suicide Squad is out now in theatres, and stars Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, Idris Elba, John Cena, Storm Reid, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz and Jennifer Holland.

If you’re looking to grab Lollipop Chainsaw, you’ll have to eBay it for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
