‘The D’Amelio Show’ trailer: Will fame ‘destroy’ the TikTok stars?

Reality TV

Followers and fans — and maybe foes — of the D’Amelio sisters have a new reason to “Be Happy.”

Hulu dropped a trailer Thursday for the upcoming series “The D’Amelio Show,” which will follow sisters Charli D’Amelio, 17, and Dixie D’Amelio, 20, and their family as they navigate a rocky road to ever-growing fame.

“What we’re trying to do is have some fun — and make sure social media doesn’t destroy our lives,” intones their dad, Marc, in a voiceover that punctuates younger D’Amelios shedding tears as they peruse hateful comments.

“To go through a public breakup was terrible,” 17-year-old star Charli confesses in the trailer, hinting at the teen’s perspective on her public breakup with TikTok creator Chase Hudson (a k a “Lil Huddy”). “It was right person, wrong time.”

The show, premiering Sept. 3, will provide a closer look at the drama behind the scenes of the girls’ red carpet appearances, Charli’s influencer collaborations, Dixie’s newfound music career, the family’s efforts to combat online haters and the girls’ minor controversies — including the sisters’ disrespectful disagreement with their parents, Marc and Heidi, and the family’s personal chef last fall.

“The D’Amelio Show” will push the TikTok family further into the spotlight starting Sept. 3.

Their antics will be on full display as the family makes a move from their quiet life in Connecticut to Los Angeles to boost the daughters’ blossoming careers. (The family’s joint fanbase is 211.9 million TikTok strong.)

The trailer also features the fellow TikTok stars Quenlin Blackwell and Dixie’s boyfriend, Noah Beck, and their efforts to deal with the percolating social media hate the sisters have received over the past couple of years.

The family’s abrupt rise to fame launched when, at age 16, Charli started to build an audience of more than 122 million TikTok followers with help from her dynamic dance moves.
