Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Release Date & Story Details

Movies

Here’s everything currently known about Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, including its potential release date and story details. Animation is a core part of Star Wars‘ legacy. While the Skywalker saga will always be fondly remembered as the heart of the franchise, there are other cornerstones that have kept George Lucas’ space opera alive for decades, one of which is the animated arena.

First introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7, Clone Force 99 aka the Bad Batch are a group of “deviant” clone troopers who possess enhanced skills that make them as useful to the Galactic Republic as clone commandos, if not more useful to the war effort. They luckily survived the Clone Wars, but then things took a turn for the worse as they needed to escape Kamino and go on the run from the Kaminoans as well as the newly-formed Galactic Empire.

Thankfully, this is only the beginning of their story. Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 is officially happening; Lucasfilm confirmed the sophomore season ahead of the two-part finale, which brought the Bad Batch together again on their homeworld for the last time.

The Bad Batch Episode 15 Ending

Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 is confirmed to release in 2022, though a specific premiere date hasn’t been given. The Bad Batch season 1 debuted on May 4, 2021 – the long-held Star Wars day – so it’s possible that Lucasfilm and Disney+ will keep the same date for The Bad Batch season 2. It would work well alongside the releases of The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian season 3, which also could premiere sometime in spring 2022, though that hasn’t been confirmed either.

Warning: SPOILERS for The Bad Batch season 1 finale.

Specific details haven’t been revealed on what Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2’s story will entail, but it’s fair to assume that it will still see Clone Force 99 on the run from the Empire – and Crosshair. Clone troopers aren’t safe in the galaxy anymore and neither are Kaminoans, who have seen their homeworld all but wiped off the map. Little is known about this period in the Star Wars timeline, at least in canon, so the creative team behind the series can take the story in virtually any direction. But perhaps the most interesting tease comes in the final scene, when Nala Se arrives at an Imperial facility and is greeted by a scientist wearing the same uniform as Dr. Pershing from The Mandalorian, thus hinting at a possible link.
