Warning! Spoilers for Teen Titans Academy #4!
In DC Comics, the identity of the mysterious new Red X has yet to be revealed, and now Teen Titan alum and current instructor at the recently established Teen Titans Academy, Nightwing, just became roped in as a prime suspect. Well, to be more specific, his butt has at least.
Seen in the the beginning pages of Teen Titan Academy #4 by Tim Sheridan and Steve Lieber, Nightwing’s butt has unexpectedly become a hot topic in the nerd community as of late with the ever-looming mystery of who could be the new vigilante calling himself Red X close behind. And now with a group of students hailing from Gotham City forming a team dubbed the Bat Pack to get to the bottom of Red X’s identity issues, Nightwing’s best asset has been given the spotlight yet again, just not for the reasons fans might expect.

Spread out across a wall in one of their dorm rooms conspiracy theory-style, the Bat Pack consisting of Bratgirl, Chupacabra, and Megabat have taken it upon themselves to prove they can hack it as master detectives just like their idol and Gotham’s very own protector, Batman, by making a collage of pictures, notes, connections and everything and anything in between to once and for all figure out exactly who this new Red X is. Musing over what facts they have at the ready when it comes to suspects, eagle-eyed fans can see that any number of DC Comics greats both new and old alike are under investigation, Nightwing’s rear end included!
No doubt leaning into the increased fan-demand for more of Nightwing’s spandex clad glutes, the picture used for Nightwing on the wall of suspects is literally just that: his booty cheeks and only his booty cheeks. Known to have donned the Red X mantle in the past, Nightwing is a logical choice in an investigation that’s slowly unraveling by the minute.
Considering Red X to be Nightwing, his actual butt (just kidding), Red Hood, Damian Wayne, Beast Boy and any number of the students at the Academy including Stitch, Miguel Montez and even the Shazam! hero himself, Billy Batson, the Bat Pack clearly have their work cut out for them yet won’t rest until this mystery is solved. Throw in the fact that Nightwing and the other staff members of Teen Titans Academy have been extremely hesitant to even bring up Red X to begin with, and Nightwing’s butt pic oddly feels a bit more in place than anyone else at the moment.
So while using a picture of Nightwing’s apple bottom rear end is clearly a fun little easter egg for fans who can’t get enough of that Dick Grayson bat-booty, the real question of who the new Red X actually is under the cowl is one that’s still as pressing as ever. Nightwing and his hiney may be reasonable suspects on the Bat Pack’s list of potential suspects, but anything can happen at this point as DC’s hottest mystery is shaping up to be one that fans will need to keep tabs on moving forward.
