EA Reportedly Resurrecting Established IP, With Reveal Next Month

Horror

Grab your salt block, it’s another one of those. According to GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, Electronic Arts is planning a revival of an “established IP” with their EA Motive studio that will be shown next month at EA’s Play Live showcase on July 22nd. Grubb further stirred the pot last Tuesday with a cryptic, “we’re going to see it… if we’re not dead first”.

Odd comment aside, Grubb seemed to be insinuating that EA could be reviving Dead Space. If this is indeed the case, obviously for some fans, this would be a tough one. Namely, Dead Space‘s original developer, Visceral Games, was closed by EA four years ago.

Not only that, but Dead Space creator Glen Schofield is now heading up Striking Distance Studios, who are in the midst of developing The Callisto Protocol, which is due out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series in 2022.

Still, the chance to return to the Dead Space universe in some fashion, even without the original creators, is something many of us would be willing to compromise on if it’s done right. We’ll have to see what July 22nd brings.

Thanks to Video Games Chronicle for the heads up.
