Ahead of the Version 1.6 content of Genshin Impact releasing this week, only Kazuha has been confirmed as a new playable character. However, several long-awaited and rumored characters have now been unveiled, although it’s unclear when they’ll be releasing in the game. One of these characters is Yoimiya, but when will she actually become playable?
According to leaks and rumors from the Genshin Impact 1.6 beta test, Yoimiya is going to be playable during the latest update. However, no official character models had been previously shared and she wasn’t featured in the Version 1.6 livestream. All of that has changed now, however, since fans have gotten their first glimpse at Yoimiya – as well as learning a bit more about her.

Thanks to a number of tweets from the official Genshin Impact Twitter account, Yoimiya has been officially revealed. She is a Pyro user who carries a bow, and her face and hair resemble the female Traveler’s character design quite a bit. Presumably known as the Frolicking Flames, Yoimiya is the owner of Naganohara Fireworks in Inazuma, which coincides with her being a Pyro user. Yoimiya is Inazuma’s best pyrotechnician, which is impressive since Inazuma’s festivals emphasize fireworks. The tweets did a great job of introducing her a bit more to fans, but they stopped short of giving an official release date. So, when is Yoimaya actually going to become playable in Genshin Impact?
Will Yoimiya Be Playable In Genshin Impact 1.6 Or Later?
So far, Genshin Impact and developer miHoYo haven’t shared when Yoimiya will actually become playable. However, since Yoimiya lives in Inazuma, she probably won’t be playable in Version 1.6 (since players won’t reach the new region in the latest update). However, she may be featured as an NPC during this content as a way of introducing her to players.
It’s most likely that Yoimiya will be available in Genshin Impact 1.7, since a beta for that content is going on now. Since characters always leak from these betas, it seems like miHoYo is simply showing off new characters early to beat leakers to it. So, while characters like Yoimiya and Sayu are great for getting fans excited, these latest tweets probably don’t mean they’ll arrive in Version 1.6.
It’s possible one of them may arrive on Kazuha’s Banner, although the characters for Klee’s Banner rerun have already been shown off and are all heroes currently in the game. This means fans will have to wait a bit longer to see if Yoimiya is playable in Genshin Impact 1.6. However, it seems most likely that she’ll arrive in a future update instead.
