A new take on the action-fantasy-adventure film Highlander from the 1980s is on the way, with Deadline reporting today that Henry Cavill is now in talks to lead the reboot’s cast.

The new movie is being directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick)!

The original movie, directed by Russell Mulcahy, was released in 1986. Christopher Lambert starred as Connor MacLeod, “an immortal Scottish swordsman who must confront the last of his immortal opponents, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled Prize.”

Deadline notes in their report, “Its unknown the plot of this latest take or if Cavill will be playing a brand new character to the universe or a character from previous projects.”

Though it wasn’t a big hit at the box office, the 1986 movie ended up attaining cult status, spawning two movie sequels, an animated series, and a live-action television series.
