Mass Effect: How to Get More Grenades | Screen Rant

Apart from weapons and abilities in Mass Effect, Shepard also has access to several Grenades. Grenades can be excellent for crowd control, taking out several husks or Geth at once. They are also extremely important on Feros when Shepard attempts to save the colonists from the Thorian’s mind control using a special kind of Grenade. In Mass Effect, Grenades are finite, and unlike medi-gel, there is no place to go to replenish them between missions. Players must rely on chance and luck to get more Grenades for their arsenal.

Shepard can usually only carry five Grenades at a time in Mass Effect, and they will not be able to pick up more once that cap has been reached. However, it is easy to run out of Grenades quickly, so purchasing Grenade Upgrades from vendors to increase carrying capacity will be important. There are a limited number of ways Shepard can pick up more Grenades during missions. The most reliable of these is to loot crates, particularly on Asteroid X57 in the Bring Down the Sky DLC. Here are all the possible ways Shepard can get more Grenades in Mass Effect.

How to Replenish Grenades in Mass Effect

By far the most effective way to find more Grenades in Mass Effect is to loot crates during missions. Simple crates littered around various levels do not need to be unlocked using the Decryption or Electronics skill. These will sometimes contain extra Grenades. Unlike other gear Shepard finds while looting, the Grenades Shepard collects from crates will appear in the bottom-left corner of the crate HUD. If Shepard chooses Take All, the Grenades will transfer to their combat HUD. If Shepard doesn’t take everything from the Crate, they will need to select the Grenades manually to take them. Crates do not refill, however, so once Shepard takes everything available in the crate, it will stay empty.

A great place to find many crates containing Grenades is Asteroid X57 from the Bring Down the Sky DLC. On Asteroid X57, these crates are called Grenade Storage Boxes, and they always contain 2 Grenades each. There are several Grenade Storage Boxes players can find, along with an Explosive Cache full of Grenades. Players can leave Asteroid X57 and return whenever they need, making it a good place to go for a few guaranteed Grenades when running low.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition First Game Combat

Less reliably, Shepard can sometimes pick up Grenades as loot drops from slain enemies. Loot from enemies collects automatically in Mass Effect, and players will need to open their Inventory to accept all the items they pick up after making kills. Grenades, however, should automatically be added to Shepard’s combat HUD.

Ultimately, there is no completely reliable way to get more Grenades in Mass Effect, so players will want to be selective about using them. Similar to Heavy Weapons in Mass Effect 2, Grenades should be reserved for the stickiest combat situations and strongest enemies. Players should make sure to aim well to avoid wasting any of this limited resource. This is especially true on Feros, as Shepard can grab a few more of the specialty Grenades at later stages of the mission, but there are only a finite number available to save the Colonists.
