With the success of The Witcher Netflix series, it looks like Paradox Interactive is looking to cash in with the World of Darkness universe in much the same way. According to Variety, Paradox Interactive has signed a deal with production company Hivemind (the brains behind The Witcher series) to develop television and movie projects based on the RPG series.
The report also says that Christine Boylan, one of the writers for Constantine, Cloak and Dagger, and The Punisher, has signed on to the project, as has Shadow and Bone showrunner and executive producer Eric Heisserer. While the project doesn’t have any distribution deals as of yet, it’s expected that development on specific titles will be announced in the coming year.
“Eric and Christine are among the most extraordinary creators working today,” said Hivemind President and Co-Founder Jason Brown. “They’re also gamers who have played in WOD since it began. It’s a rare opportunity when the connection between storyteller and story runs this deep, and that is the alchemy which has led to many of our favorite and most culturally resonant franchises.”
This is a boost of good news for Paradox, which has unfortunately seen its follow-up sequel in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delayed indefinitely due to turmoil with former developer Hardsuit Labs.
Meanwhile, we await the return of The Witcher series, which has its second season debuting later this year on Netflix.
